another interesting experience

finally, i had to make the decision, which i had actually made for some time before this. i had to choose whether to go to the us for the sap implementation or to attend the graduation ceremony. right, the us trip cannot be postponed. if i could not join during the time, they were going to pick another person from the uk office instead.

without reluctance, i picked the us trip! this is another experience and opportunity i shouldn’t miss, should i? esp., this is about erp implementation which is somewhat related to my latest degree, innovation in management. i truly believe that i am going to experience a lot of good and bad things from this trip.

however, daddy seemed to be reluctant and his thorough concern was that my mum would actually, deeply in her heart, want me to attend the ceremony. one thing he asked me:

‘who paid for your tuition fee?’

surely, that was my mum. and he wanted to remind me that.. perhaps attending the ceremony was a way to pay her back after she had been waiting for me to complete this degree in the last 2 years (it was actually 19 months!)? that’s how he explained when i was kinda quiet and spent some time in his office thinking and staring outside as i was wondering what made he so concerned about the ceremony.

comparing the trip with the ceremony, my mum preferred the trip of course. the coming graduation ceremony is not my first or second time, but third (second for master’s degree). her decision was made quickly with no reluctance either.

so, yes, i am going to charlotte in north carolina, the us this 30th june and will stop in salisbury, uk for 2 days on 9th july, arriving bangkok on 11th july. as far as i understand, this is going to be a tough task, but i can make it! :)

had a tough time a bit the day before yesterday when i could not get the interview appointment at the us consular section. what i could get was 9th july!!! fortunately, the expedited interview request got replied yesterday and my interview date was changed to 23rd june instead. that was great! there should not be a problem of getting the visa as this is a business trip with sponsorship.

tickets booked and i already have the uk visa (since last time) valid until 26th july. nice timing..

i’m not going alone, but with the other senior colleague who has been there before. she’s got her the us visa and been applying for the uk visa.

..

.

p.s. i was also warned to be cautious when talking to rich, the one i normally talk to, as he might have been upset and had a question why he wasn’t the one going. that made me worry a bit (although i believed that rich was reasonable and was too busy to join the trip anyway) until rich got informed and he started the conversation about this with me. he seemed super fine and we were still good (by being chit-chatting a lot about our similar interests, like we normally do). btw, been talking to rich a lot lately, not only about work but other stuff. he’s kinda similar to me in some ways. perhaps, this guy can turn to be one good friend. have to see…..

p.p.s. i told daddy that if he wanted to go to my grad ceremony, he didn’t have to worry, i could get him another degree (and he said doctorate? uh-ohhh..). i said the same to my mum (and she laughed.. )

how about psychology degree? :p
